DESIGN TEAM CHALLENGE SPRING HAS SPRUNG

           

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS  

I love this time of year. April showers, rainbows, newborn animals, flowers start sprouting in the gardens. It's .all good. For this April shower tag I used 2 of the Precious Piecing pattens. They are # 120 Clouds and 459 Rainy Day Kids. doesn't this make you want to jump in a puddle and look for a rainbow.

 

WEEKEND CHALLENGE USING METAL EMBELLISHMENTS

The title of this 2 page  8x8 layout is YOU ROCK This layout would be used for a concert you attended, your favorite singer or a group of friends trying their hand at Kerioke. I used metal photo corners on the photo mat. A great find of beaded ribbon was used to make a stage for the groupie to walk on. Pattern # 670 Garage Band Groupie was perfect for this set of pages.

(Pattern # 565)  Old Man Winter is almost behind us and the feel of Spring is in the air. As March winds blow we embrase the opportunity for some good old fun .Out come the kites and the fly high competitions begin.This would be fun on layout showing yours skills as a Kite Flying Connisiour.The adorable litle girl is one part of pattern # 452 girl with wagon. A Martha Stewart kite finishes off the tag quite nicely.

SWEET GIRLY GIRLS

I wanted to make a fun, bright cheary layout a real Girly set of pages. It features 3 of the Precious Piecings  patterns . They are 457 Party Dress Girl ,474 Mermaid Peeker, and 475 Little Mermaid. Paper lace, felt sparkled words , dimensional flowers and bling dots make this work.  Lift the mermaid peeker at the top and you will find a place for hidden journaling. Four photo makt and a journaling box complete the layouts.

CATCHING 20 ZZZZ'S

How often would a little nap in the middle of the day feel awesome. My son is a long haul truck driver . For his birthday I decided to make an mini album for him with the stories he has shared from his on the road experiences.. I used pattern # 675 Camp Chair Cowboy. I bet you have pictures of family and friends catching 20 ZZZZZZZs Why not make them a special card using this little cowboy.I'm sure they would get a kick out of it. Let a little bling  welcome your Spring. Isn't she just to adorable. Metalic glitter Butterflies flutter amongst the Soft pink and purple Bling flowers on a vine of pink ribbon.Beary chic is from Pattern 387. This little Scotch Girl is from Precious piecings pattern # 594.

A Martha Stewart  punch for the paper lace was used at he bottom of the card .A shiny metalic border strip from EK sucsess was used as a side border.Stickles on the paper lace border and the chipboard flower add Bling to the card.   

   We would love to have youjoin in on our weekend challenge. It is a great place to be inspired and to inspire others.

I made these two   8x8 pages for my sons album. By changing the wording they could be for a camping or travel  book. Every time I look at this set of  pages I laugh. . Here is my challenge entry for this week. I thought it would be fun to have a hidden journaling box so I hid a double sided tag in a pocket on the precious embellishment. this could be used on a layout or on a card. Precious Piecings pattern #049 Skunk Laying. I also use a scalloped lace border punch and added bling just for fun.TGhe skunk is pop dotted for dimension.

Bookcase Bookmark

On of my favorite pastimes is Reading.I just love the way this turned out.This Bookcase bookmark was made for the bookmark challenge at Precious Piecings. I used 3 of Lisa's patterns they are #276 black Kitty,  #076 Kitty Laying, and #275 Black Kitty. I made the  bug jar and the snow globe with the Cricut. Stickers are from EK Success and K and Company.

A FEELING OF SPRING

This last snow storm left me wanting Spring to be here already. As I was looking out my window I noticed several birds gathered in my forsythia tree. It reminded me that Spring would be here soon.. I decided to make this fun little card. It makes me feel happy

 I started with a paper torn grass border. Then added The Cricut (Basecamp) title Spring which I did some pen stitching on to make it pop abit.The EK Success dragonfly is always a good punch  on an outdoor themed project. The handrawn stitches make the dragonflies look like they are actually moving .I like using ribbon , the color was perfect so a bow in the upper right hand corner ties it all together.  The adorable bird is Precious Piecings Pattern #004. The pattern has 2 versions and is on sale right now for 50 cents. Just click on the link to the Paper Piecing store on the right and you to can make this adorable card.

JUST BECAUSE GIFT CONTAINER

        I wanted to make a special gift for a friend..Instead of a gift bag or box., I decided to go way out of the box and recycle, redocorate and reuse.  What I came up with. was an empty  crushed pineapple can. I use one of those can openers that leaves a smooth clean edge when you open it. I opened the can from the bottom. After washing and letting the can dry completely I filled it with a jar of honey and  some of my friends favorite teas, and a few little  cookies.I tipped it upside down and reasealed the bottom of the can with hot glue .  Can you imagine what a surprize it will be when the pop top  on  gift can is pulled to reveal the hidden gift inside. Some ideas for fillers :Hard candies. An apple for the teacher. Homemade cookies, socks for friends with cold feet, a gift card, movies tickets, popcorn,  There are so many possibilitie. All you have to do is cover the can , pick your theme, and fill with fun. Try your hand at making one of these and  post what you came up with.The adorable bee on the can is    Precious Piecing  Pattern # 77 Bee Full..
